Say hi to Power Coiled Sync Hot

A second heart attack has forced me to exercise in a more “controlled” manor. My cardiologist has implied that day hikes (6 hours or so) with more than 4,000 feet in elevation change, or hopping on my off road motorcycle and dueling it out with the “young guns” was not the most beneficial type of exercise for a 55 year old man who has had 3 stints placed to keep arteries open. Playing is good for the head, but the heart needs something more regular. The Forerunner 305 with the heart monitor is a nearly perfect tool for someone who wants to record or gauge physical activity. When used outdoors the GPS receiver keeps track of distance, speed, and elevation. Using that data (and your personal profile), it can calculate calories consumed. When paired with the heart monitor you can see where, when, and why, your heart is working the hardest.
The software that comes with the unit (Garmin Training Center) is pretty week in my opinion, but it is a functional tool. I prefer a piece of software called “SportTracks” [...]. for tracking my progress and making charts and graphs for my doctors. The 305 is comfortable to wear and has a reasonably simple user interface. It does take some time to get used to the button layout and menu structure, but there is probably good reasons for Garmin’s choices here (I just don’t know what they are). I have done “side by side” comparisons with my Garmin Etrex Vista HCx (MTK chipset), and My Tomtom ONE XL (Sirf chipset) against the Forerunner GPS receiver (Sirf chipset). At no point were any of the 3 in disagreement about any location by more than 30 feet. I have tested this in the car, on my bicycle (yes I have had all 3 mounted on my mountain bike), and hiking (I’m also a geocacher). The Forerunner is a top quality GPS lacking only the mapping and routing functions of it’s much more expensive playmates (I doubt those functions would be much use on a screen that small anyway!).

F Sigma 300mm 100 run out

I got this lens a year ago from Amazon for a little more than sevenhundred, much cheaper than today price. Somehow HSM is not implemented on Minolta or Sony mount so AF is a little bit slow on my Sony Alpha A200, not super fast like on Canon or Nikon mount. Couple with 1.4X extender, I tried to take some birds but AF is slower than w/o the extender, I got like 50% of success rate. Chromatic aberration is visible if 100% crop. So my experience with birds were not very successful, but I used this lens to take my wife portraits and it did a good job. Colors were vivid and pleasing.
I think I used this lens wrongly for bird photography, I know that Canon 400 2.8 is good for that, but hey it cost maybe 5 times this lens cost. Overall I like this lens and I will keep it for a while.

GEMS 5 GLASS NOBLE problem!

This has been a boost to my training program . I have a great running group that sends a map of the course to be run each week that can be simply downloaded on to my fore runner 305 so I can focus on running not the street I need to turn on . Plus trail running is my fav. and after the run it is fun to look at my course and speed and distance which when you just run random trails was hard to calculate before.

Radici 1401 Plaza USA no mad

This is an awful vacuum. The vent is placed right by the ridiculously short hose, ensuring that any time you reach with the hose, the air is blowing on the exact area you want to pick up. Floor vacuum part is virtually useless, with no suction at all.

I thought I could work around the length of the hose, but you really can’t.

Recently a friend lent me a copy of The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I’d heard about this book and knew it was one of those unlikely first novels by an unknown author that is catapulted to success primarily through word of mouth. It sounded like something I would enjoy, and it was on my ever growing list of “must get to someday” books; not urgent, but worth checking out when I had the time.

What made it a little different for me was that my friend was lending me an audio book rather than a traditional printed book. Now I know that audio books are very popular and that legions of fans absolutely love listening to audio books at home or in their cars. I was not one of these fans. The idea of listening to a book while driving, having to break off at an interesting part when I arrived at my destination, or fumbling to put in a new CD while trying to pay attention to the road did not much appeal to me.

But I had this 15 disc CD volume of The Help with a fervent declaration from my friend that I MUST listen to it. So what else could I do but pop in a CD one day on my way to work and start listening?

Immediately, I was hooked. The Help takes place in the Jim Crow South, in Mississippi in the early 1960’s. Segregation, no matter how brutal or demeaning, is a way of life, with few willing or able to challenge it. Many white families in Jackson Mississippi had maids to clean their houses and raise their children, and these maids were inevitably black women or “colored” as they were called.

The cruel irony of a black woman raising a white child who then goes on to embrace segregation and hire his or her own black servants is one of the driving themes of The Help. Simply put, this story is told through the eyes of three characters: Aibileen, a compassionate maid who has raised white children for 40 years; Minnie, a firebrand whose quick temper gets her fired from her servant jobs every year or so; and Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, a young college educated white woman who doesn’

Love the case. Absolutely hate the clip! I’m a firefighter and needed something strong to protect my iphone at work. The case protects it very well. When it’s in the clip however, the phone falls out nearly every time I jump off the fire engine/ambulance, and/or slide down the pole. Thank God the case is good to protect it from all the falling it’s doing now. I wouldn’t buy this if you plan on using the clip…….
