I loved the audio CD. I never had time to finish a page, so I got this and popped it in my car cd player and listened to it wherever I went I finished it within a couple weeks instead of a couple (probably more like several) months. Definitely recommend. The narrator’s voice was a good pick as well.
7 Stuffed Sheep
This little product almost brings tears to my eyes. My fiance brought his dog to our home with warnings of “She broke a Dyson vaccum, we have to vacuum daily, she sheds like crazy, there is ALWAYS hair someWHERE…”
This dog is an 80lb Shepherd mix and his shedding warnings were an understatement! After a year of Zoom Grooming, hours of brushing, frightening baths, and DAYS of vacuuming the back seat of my car even after it’s covered with a thick cotton rug–this little tool has ended my anguish and anxiety. *Sigh of Relief*
Hair drippage has been reduced DRAMATICALLY after 1 hour of serious work with it, followed by daily Furminating. She is sleek, shiny, and not shedding! Granted there is some hair here and there but not globs of hair bushes sprinkled about the house. I get emotional just thinking about the cleaning freedom! The poor dog was distressed even by the zoom groom but she is pleasantly surprised by the Furminator. She doesn’t flinch when we use it and she has expressed no discomfort at all! She is squeamish about all things related to grooming and would run even from the very gentle Zoom Groom!
The only downside–and I mean this is minute–is that the Furminator will find a LOT of hair and you need to be prepared with an adequate receptacle. We went wild using it in the backyard and bushels of her hair made its way back inside on the wind, our feet, and on cat/dog paws. It gathers the hair into fine bunches.
A miracle product!
From the description given of Water For Elephants I wasn’t sure I would like it, but was intrigued just the same. I am usually more of a horror fan, but to my surprise, I LOVED IT! Action packed, heartbreaking, and a little glimpse of what scares us all about growing older.
Wonderfully written and a definite page turn, you just can’t put down. I look forward to reading more works from Sara Gruen.

This book, focused on a young white woman, and interactions with two black maids in the early 60’s, connects us to those times, just prior to the “explosion” of energy that led to our modern world, in such events as the massive unfolding of the Vietnam War. We feel as if we are in the presence of a kind of archetypal realm, a “dawn” preceding a very active day. The items that the author chose as peripheral to her story emphasize this. I feel that there has been a kind of turning inward in recent times, that perhaps we are within the “twilight” time of this “day” of humanity. That makes a look back particularly timely.
Naturally, her particular focus, with the growth of the civil rights movement in the South, is easy to relate to, and the book has a substantial amount of a whimsical humor that is very appealing, as well as a certain seriousness that one would expect. I found myself very absorbed in the tale of these three people, and was quite pleased with the book.

I got this particular product originally when I was participating in a medical school diabetes study on walking and it’s affect on blood sugar. I had had three cheap pedometers before. They were either totally inaccurate or broke within a month. This one is so good, that I purchased another one for my neighbor who has had a quadruple bypass and needs motivation to exercise. I wasn’t at all surprised to see this reviewed as the best pedometer in Consumer Reports a few months ago. It is lightweight, accurate, (we have compared the distance with the car odometer on several of our walking routes,) and the attached frame with clip has kept me from losing it more times than I can count! I clip it to my waistband, and sometimes find it dangling there. It is also supposed to be OK if you wear it in a pocket, although I have not tried that, as most women’s clothing does not have enough (or any!) pockets. The cheap pedometers I have had before were so inaccurate that they picked up vibration from driving in the car, and counted that as steps. Others could not be set to my stride length, which this one can. I recommend it highly. It is easy to use, once you get through the hassle of measuring your average stride length. As a bonus, since I began using it, it has helped me to walk more, and my blood sugar is under very good control. My doctor and diabetes educator are thrilled!

I loved it at first, but as others have pointed out, you can get on the scale and get one weight, get off, and then get a different weight. This morning the variance was ridiculous. Usually, I will weigh a heavy object, then get back on and it will be closer for some odd reason. I keep a log of my daily weight taken at the same time each day. Today it said I had gained 5 pounds in one day, not very likely. So, I weighed something else (heavy shoes), cleared it, then got back on. Voila! I lost 5 pounds! This is with batteries not more than 2 weeks old. So for accurate tracking of weight loss on a daily basis, not so good. Overall though, it is well made and might work if you weigh yourself once a week.
